[edit] Musical career
[edit] F4 (2001–2002)
The Meteor Garden series is an adaptation of the Japanese shōjo manga series, ' (Hana Yori Dango). Yan plays the lead role of Dao Ming Si, an extremely arrogant and rich university student who meets his match in the poor but proud girl, Shan Cai - played by Barbie Hsu. Chou, Wu and Chu play his friends Hua Ze Lei, Mei Zuo, and Xi Men respectively. The four boys were the most popular and handsome boys at the university; they were recognised as the group named the "Flower Four", hence the title: F4.
Meteor Garden was released in Taiwan in 2001 and turned the leads into stars virtually overnight[citation needed]. In 2002 Meteor Garden was released in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Korea and in the Philippines in 2003. It was also released in some place of Europe. The series was aired on Xing Kong channel, and later remade title Meteor Shower, which was a commercial flop. A sequel, Meteor Garden II, was shot in Spain later and released in 2002.
In 2001, F4 became a boy-group and signed a record deal with Sony Music Taiwan. Together they have released three albums, Meteor Rain, Fantasy 4ever, and "Waiting for You Here". In 2002, F4 sang the Mandarin cover of "Can't Help Falling in Love" included in the Asian version of Walt Disney's Lilo & Stitch soundtrack.[1] The English version of this song is sung by A*Teens, which is a cover of the 1961 Elvis Presley hit of the same title. They also made the Mandarin cover of Yo Te Amo by Chayanne.
[edit] JVKV (April 29, 2007)
On April 29, 2007, Meteor Garden producer Angie Chai announced that the group would no longer be known as F4. The change in name stemmed from copyright-related issues. Japanese publisher Shueisha, who owns the copyright to Hana Yori Dango allowed the group to use F4 as its band name in 2001. However, as Japan had filmed and aired its own live action versions of the popular manga, with its own cast of four, the publisher felt that there may be confusion over the name in different countries.[2][3] Due to this conflict, the group was renamed JVKV using the first initials of each of the group's members. According to the producer, the members are listed in the new name by the order of their birth dates from oldest to youngest, thus Vanness Wu's name appears before Vic Chou's.[4]
Despite rumours of disbanding,[5] JVKV released their third album, Waiting For You, on December 28, 2007.[6] Their third album still bore the name F4, not JVKV.
[edit] 2008
F4 were the first foreign artists to hold 7 consecutive concerts in Japan. Thousands flooded Narita Airport when the band's plane touched down. Jerry Yan even attracted two thousand fans at the airport during his solo fan meeting.
[edit] Solo projects
JVKV are also concentrating on their solo careers in acting and music.
Wu has focused more of his attention on movies and music. He released his 2nd album, titled "V.Dubb" (his nickname), in April 2007, five years after his first album, "Body Will Sing", and has released his 3rd album titled "In Between 2008 new song + collection album" in June 2008. He's been in numerous music videos, such as "Ai Cuo" with Wang Leehom, the Chinese version of "Crazy in Love" with Beyoncé Knowles, and Coco Lee's "Hip Hop Tonight". He has also been involved with several big-screen movies such as "Star Runner", "Kung Fu Fighter", "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon", and "Dragon Squad", among others. Many of his movies relate to his love of stunts and martial arts.
In August 2004, Yan came out with his first solo album titled, "The First Time" (第一次 Jerry for You). He's acted in Taiwanese drama series such as "Spicy Teacher", "Meteor Garden", its sequel "Meteor Garden 2", "Meteor Rain", "Come To My place", "Love Scar", "The Hospital", and made a movie, "Magic Kitchen" 魔幻廚房 (2004). "Hot Shot" (2008) was broadcast in Taiwan, and "Starlit" aired in Taiwan in 2009. He is filming a new series, called "Down With Love", with Ella Chen of S.H.E.
Chou has come out with 3 solo albums, "Make a Wish" (2002), "Remember I Love You" (2004), and "I'm not F4" (2007), and has acted in at least one drama series every year since 2001, with the exception of 2003. Within the last year, he came out with two movies: "Linger" and "Tea Fight".
Chu, known to love food and cooking, came out with his own cookbook, "Delicious Relations" (美味關係) in 2006, after starring in a string of idol dramas. He has also starred in at least one drama per year since 2001, except 2005, where he came out with his own solo album, "On Ken's Time". He has released his 2nd solo album "2009 Getting Real new songs + collections album" in January 2009 (just before his birthday). He has filmed three movies to date. In a recent interview with F4, Chu has mentioned that he is growing increasingly more interested in music.
Three of the four appeared in "Wish To See You Again", starring Vic Chou and Ken Chu, while Vanness had guest appearances in a few episodes. Due to scheduling conflicts, Jerry Yan did not appear; his part was played by Kingone Wang. Yan filmed a series in Taiwan alongside Wu Chun of Fahrenheit and Show Luo, called "Hot Shot" which was released in the Summer 2008. The series revolves around basketball and the boys' competition on court. This series was highly anticipated due to the star status of thethree male leads.

[edit] Career
Yang began her career in 2000, as a member of Taiwanese vocal quartet girl group 4 in Love, where she was given the stage name of Rainie, matching the weather theme of each member. The group's popularity in the music industry was mediocre and they achieved limited success.[1] After the group disbanded in 2002, Yang continued to pursue a career in the entertainment industry as a TV host, hosting shows such as "Guess Guess Guess" variety show. After playing supporting roles in several Taiwanese dramas, including the Meteor Garden, she landed the lead role, as Qi Yue, in the CTV drama Devil Beside You opposite Mike He in 2005. Devil Beside You was well received, allowing Yang's career to take off. The same year, she released her debut album, My Intuition, featuring her hit "曖昧" (Intuition) and 理想情人" (Ideal Lover) which were both insert songs of Devil Beside You.
In 2006, she released her follow-up album, Meeting Love, which also sold very well at around 1.4 million. On 8 January 2007, Yang recorded her last "Guess Guess Guess" show due to her busy schedule and focus upon her music/acting career. Hoping to portray herself as a "serious" actress, Yang co-starred in the lesbian-themed film Spider Lilies alongside Isabella Leong. However, after co-starring in Spider Lilies, Yang returned to her previous cute image by becoming the lead actress in the drama Why Why Love, co-starring with Mike He and Kingone Wang), which aired during the summer of 2007. She subsequently released her third album, My Other Self on 7 September 2007. It features the theme songs from Why Why Love, "缺氧" (Lacking Oxygen) and "完美比例" (Perfect Example).
On 23 April 2008, while filming the Taiwanese drama Miss No Good in San Chih, Taiwan; Yang fell heavily from the stairs, and was sent to Mackay Memorial Hospital in Taipei. The stairs were located between the third floor, where the dressing room was located, and the first floor, where the film set was located. The crew originally thought the falling object was a light frame, but upon hearing a groan, they realized it was her. After an X-ray examination, doctors diagnosed Yang's injury as a spinal contusion. After leaving the hospital, producer Angie Chai took Yang to a Chinese massage therapist.[2] Miss No Good, starring Yang and Wilber Pan, was aired during the fall/winter of 2008 and was met with much success. During this period of time, she also released her 4th album, Not Yet a Woman, which features "太煩惱" (Too Much Trouble) and "帶我走" (Take Me Away) that were theme songs of Miss No Good.
In 2009, Yang starred in Gala Television's ToGetHer with Jiro Wang of Fahrenheit and George Hu. Next she filmed The Child's Eye in 3D in Thailand, a horror flick directed by the Pang Brothers with Elanne Kong, and also Taiwanese drama Hi My Sweetheart with Show Luo, which first aired on CTV and GTV on 1 November 2009.[3] After promoting Hi My Sweetheart, Yang released her fifth album, Rainie & Love...?, on New Years Day, 2010.[4] Due to the success of Devil Beside You and Miss No Good overseas, Yang entered J-pop in 2010 by releasing a Japanese version of her hit "曖昧" (Intuition) as her first Japanese single.[5]
Yang released her first collection album, Whimsical World Collection on 23 April 2010. It consists of 3 CDs and a DVD with 3 new tracks, 35 previously released tracks and 15 music videos from her five studio albums. Followed by her first concert, held on 24 April 2010 at Taipei Arena, with Jerry Yan as her special guest.[6]
On 22nd October 2010, Yang was awarded Best Leading Actress in a Television Series at the 45th Golden Bell Awards, Taiwan for Hi My Sweetheart.
[edit] Controversy
In 2003, Yang mistakenly thought the eight-year Second Sino-Japanese War was eleven years in length during a television program. After learning the actual length of the war, she responded with "Only eight years?" Internet postings exaggerated the incident to include her mistaking the death toll of the Nanking Massacre.[7] Reports of her blunder generated anger in China, leading to the boycotting of Hunan Satellite Television's airing of Devil Beside You, in which she starred. Upon learning of the widespread boycott, Hunan TV replaced the show's airtime with Green Forest, My Home.[8]
On April 3, 2007, Yang wrote a public apology letter to her fans, and said in an interview: "I left school early and entered the working world. In the future I am willing to read diligently when I have time. I believe in the future I will have a deeper understanding of history...I apologize to everyone...I will work hard to do my job well in the future."[7]

Hitam bukan cirimu
Putih juga bukan cirimu
Semu ku melihatmu
Tak bercahaya
Seperti memudar
Cinta aku mencinta
Kamu yang aku mau
Namun tak tepat waktu
Ku sudah jera dalam percintaan
Chorus:
Salam hangat untuk cintamu
Aku yang kandas dan patah hati
Biarlah orang memandang lama
Aku tak mau bercinta lagi
Engkau yang dulu pernah ku cinta
Namun terlanjur kau bersamanya
Dan ku terluka oleh cintanya
Kini kau hadir kusudah.. Jera

About Rainie
She started acting when she was 14-years-old, appearing in movies and commercials in Hong Kong. At 15, she auditioned for a girl band to be launched by BMG Records called "4 in Love" and passed with flying colors. From then on, she was called "Rainie" to fit in with the weather-based named girls of the group; she was originally called Lily in the industry. She moved to Taiwan and pursued her acting career as she lived with her co-band members under one roof. She starred in various dramas starting with the mega blockbuster Meteor Garden where she played a supporting, yet pivotal role as the cute Xiao You (Hana Yori Dango's "Yuki" Chinese counterpart). The rest is history as she proceeded on to be a much-loved leading lady by respectable men and starred in more bankable dramas. Unfortunately, in late 2002, 4 in Love had to disband. Windie and Sunnie proceeded with their studies and Cloudie pursued becoming a stewardess. Rainie was left in the E-circle. Continuing as a solo artist, she reached new heights and levels with a different job- as a host. She discovered her hosting skills with the hosting jobs she did left and right. She became a host without disrupting her acting career where she also received many projects. She continued singing by performing on the OSTs of her dramas. 2005 was a pivotal year for Rainie. Her leading TV series "Devil Beside You" (恶魔在身边) with Mike He brought her song Ai Mei absolute success. She holds the record as the first Chinese newcomer to achieve platinum status with her debut album My Intuition Ai Mei.
